Smart Meter Antennas, Cables & Accessories for Digital Electricity Meters and Gateways
The installer will search in vain for uniform framework conditions for the installation of intelligent metering systems (iMSys) and smart meter gateways (SMGw), as there is no uniform standard for installation.
Every meter cupboard is different, the structural conditions vary and the reception conditions for mobile radio differ from location to location. This makes it all the more important to have a reliable accessories partner who offers the right solution for every installation situation.
At MC Technologies, we are ideally equipped for the smart meter rollout: We have the necessary experience with many partners, manufacturers and energy suppliers and have the right accessories such as smart meter antennas and smart meter cables in our portfolio.
We expand your smart meter gateway or turn your digital meter into a smart metering system
With our iMSys or SMGw connection set, in addition to the smart meter antennas (FAKRA), which are essential for installation, you also receive FNN-compliant connection cables as standard and Y-connections as well as LMN (Local Meter Network) cables in various lengths. We also offer modular plugs with 120 Ohm terminating resistors. We manufacture individual special solutions according to the customer’s requirements.
It is important for us to accompany you in all your questions and to offer you an ideal solution from our iMSys accessories package.
Smart Meter accessories at a glance
In addition to the smart meter gateway itself, metering point operators require various accessory components for the smooth operation of a smart metering system. MC Technologies offers all major product groups from a single source:
Smart Meter antennas
External smart meter antennas are indispensable in many installations. Smart meter gateways are often located in basements or in metal meter cabinets where mobile phone reception is insufficient. Our antennas are available as adhesive, magnetic, screw and wall antennas and cover the LTE, 5G, 450 MHz and 868 MHz frequency ranges. With cable lengths from 0.5 to 20 meters, installers will find the right solution for every installation situation.
LMN cable
LMN cables connect the base meters to the Smart Meter Gateway via the Local Meter Network (LMN). MC Technologies offers LMN BUS cables in lengths from 0.1 to 5 meters, optionally with standard or 6 kV test voltage for increased requirements. We also offer LMN bus splitters for connecting several meters to one gateway.
Mains cable and power supply
Mains cables ensure the 230 V power supply to the Smart Meter Gateway. Our mains cables are available as standard versions, with a Y-branch or with a 6 kV test voltage. For installations without a direct power supply at the meter location, we offer top-hat rail power supply units as an alternative.
Patch cable and CLS connection
For the CLS connection (Controllable Local Systems), we offer CAT.6 patch cables in various lengths. Controllable appliances such as heat pumps or wall boxes can be connected via the gateway’s CLS interface.

Frequently asked questions about smart meter accessories
A complete smart metering system (iMSys) consists of a modern metering device, a smart meter gateway and the appropriate accessories. As a minimum, you will need a mains cable for the power supply, an LMN cable for the data connection to the base meter and, in most cases, an external antenna for the mobile phone connection. MC Technologies offers ready-made connection sets that contain all components.
Smart Meter Gateways are usually installed in the meter cabinet. The combination of cellar location and metal meter cabinet attenuates the mobile phone signal so much that the gateway’s integrated antenna is often not sufficient for a stable connection. An external smart meter antenna is mounted outside the cabinet and ensures reliable reception.
LMN stands for Local Meter Network. An LMN cable is a data cable that connects the base meter to the Smart Meter Gateway via an RS-485 interface. The metering data is read out via the LMN and transmitted to the metering point operator. MC Technologies offers LMN cables in various lengths, also with increased test voltage (6 kV) for special requirements.
